How Many Fittings Does a Bespoke Suit Need?

The useful answer is about the work

Timing and number of fittings depend on the garment; we plan them with you at the first appointment. Each appointment moves the commission forward through an assessment of your proportions, cloth and chosen silhouette. A fitting is a stage of assessment and refinement, with a clear purpose for the work that follows.

The process begins with a consultation about lifestyle, intended use and personal style. Measurements and proportion follow, including an assessment of posture and balance. Bespoke then proceeds from an individual pattern. These early decisions establish what later fittings need to evaluate.

What a fitting evaluates

Bellucci Napoli fittings evaluate balance, movement and silhouette. Explain how you expect to use the suit rather than asking only whether it looks correct while standing still. The garment should be considered in relation to the person who will wear it through meetings, journeys or an important occasion.

Observe the whole outline before focusing on one detail. The shoulder, chest, waist, sleeve and trouser line contribute to the result together. If something feels unfamiliar, describe the sensation clearly. A considered discussion makes the next refinement more useful than a general request to make the suit tighter or looser everywhere.

Bespoke and made to measure

The two Bellucci Napoli services differ in their pattern approach. Bespoke uses a pattern created for the individual; made to measure adapts the house pattern to the client's proportions. Both suits and jackets share full-canvas horsehair construction. The service names therefore do not describe a choice between a canvassed jacket and an inferior construction.

Both services are measured in New York and handmade in Naples, with private fittings at the Long Island City atelier. Bespoke suits start at $3,000; made-to-measure begins at $2,100. A service choice should account for the desired silhouette, the pattern approach and your ability to attend appointments. It should not rely on an invented difference in guaranteed fitting counts.

Planning your appointments

Give the atelier any event date, travel dates and practical constraints at the first consultation. Ask how the proposed commission will be reviewed and when you should return. Leave the schedule to that discussion instead of treating a generic week count as a promise. Bellucci Napoli's final delivery stage includes a final fitting and advice on coordination, care and future wardrobe development.
